PROJECT DETAILS:
In 2018, I participated in Dr. Natalia Grincheva's award-winning project ACMI on the Global Map as an assistant researcher.
Over a period of 18 months, I was one of 13 graduate students at ACMIX that contributed vital quantitative data research on the cultural impacts of ACMI's traveling exhibitions and edited more than 180 stories about the collection.
This data research was used to develop a pilot map that uses geographical information technologies to measure and predict a museum's soft-power influence, defined as an institutional ability to mobilize the global public, generate economic activity and attract international investments.
Please follow this link to view a demo version of the map: http://melbourne.eduprofile.net/demo/
The pilot was successful and has since received several awards, including the 2018 Melbourne Engagement Grant and the 2018 Digital Humanities Australasia Award, and will be further developed in collaboration with major museums around the world.
