How to Build a Universe
THE EXHIBITION:
How to Build a Universe is an art exhibition that I developed, managed, and curated at the historic Meat Market Stables in Melbourne from 8/07/21 to 18/07/21.
EXHIBITION DESCRIPTION:
In the past, museums built universes that were miniature representations of the world but these microcosms were limited and limiting constructions. How to Build a Universe is an exhibition that takes the theatrical methodologies of dominant museums as a jumping-off point to launch a creative intervention.
In 2021, four installation artists responded to the idea of universe building, commenting on the impossibilities of constructing a complete or neutral representation of the world we inhabit.
These artists critiqued and posed alternatives. Through their works and experimentation, we accessed multiple perspectives as if looking in at the world through a microcosm of speculative lenses.
PARTICIPATING ARTISTS:
Daniella Rüffino
